A'Shawn Robinson

BIOGRAPHY

A'Shawn Robinson was born on March 21, 1995, in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a defensive tackle in the National Football League. He played college football at Alabama.

He attended Arlington Heights high school where he played for Coached Todd Whitten; he recorded more than 60 tackles and posted seven sacks as a junior in 2011, while also playing offensive tackle. He was rated as the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect and the fifth-best player in the nation at any position by Scout.com, Robinson prepped at Arlington Heights high school. Competed for the West squad in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was rated as a five-star prospect across the board.

He played college football for the Crimson at the University of Alabama; he made an immediate impact on the Alabama defensive line as a true freshman, earning Freshman All-American honors from The Sporting News. Also named to the league coaches' Freshman All-SEC team following a debut season in which he concluded with 38 tackles (15 solo) and a career-high 5.5 sacks, which led the team.

In 2014 he Started 13 of the 14 games he played in as a sophomore, earning All-SEC Honorable Mention accolades from the Associated Press. He finished the season with a career-high 49 tackles (16 solo), three pass defenses, one forced fumble, and a blocked PAT.

In 2015 he was selected as one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy, given annually to the nation's top interior offensive or defensive lineman, was named a First Team All-American by the Sporting News, Associated Press, FWAA and AFCA. He finished his junior season with 46 tackles (18 solo), 3.5 sacks, two pass defenses and one fumble recovery in 15 games (15 starts).

After the season, Robinson decided to forgo his senior year and enter the draft. Robinson was drafted in the second round with the 46th overall pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2016 NFL Draft. He Logged an impressive rookie season in which he played in all 16 games (five starts) and finished with 30 tackles (22 solo), two sacks, six tackles for loss and seven pass defenses. His seven pass defenses ranked third among all defensive linemen in 2016.

During Week 6 of the 2017 NFL season, Robinson recorded his first career interception off Drew Brees and returned it 2 yards for a touchdown. In 2018, Robinson played in 13 games with seven starts, recording 49 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.

On April 24, 2020, the Los Angeles Rams signed Robinson to a two-year contract. He was placed on the active/non-football injury list at the start of training camp on August 8, 2020. He was placed on reserve/non-football injury to start the season. He was activated on October 30, 2020. 

Robinson helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20. In the Super Bowl, Robinson recorded 6 tackles and 1 sack and was instrumental in shutting down the Bengal's running game.
