Alvin Kamara

BIOGRAPHY

Alvin Kamara was born on July 25th, 1995 in Norcross, Georgia. He is a running back in the NFL.

Kamara attended Norcross High School where he played football during his junior and senior years. In two years he totaled 2,264 yards on 303 carries and 26 touchdowns and added 22 receptions for 286 yards and five scores. In his senior year, he helped lead his team to their first state championship. Kamara earned Georgia Mr. Football honors from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Class AAAAAA Player of the Year, and garnered first-team All-State honors from the Georgia Sports Writers Association. Kamara received 13 official offers from major Divison I Programs but ultimately signed with The University of Alabama to play football on February 6th, 2013.

Kamara redshirted his first year at Alabama and transferred to Hutchinson Community College in 2014. At Hutchinson, Kamara ran for 1,211 yards with 18 touchdowns and led the team with 1,469 yards of total offense and 21 touchdowns. His successful season with Blue Dragons propelled Kamara to one of the top JUCO prospects in the nation. He earned a 5-star rating from the Rivals.com and Scout.com recruiting networks. Both Tennessee and Georgia offered him a scholarship, and he opted to play for the Volunteers.

Kamara played two years at The University of Tennessee from 2015 to 2016. He accounted for 144 yards and two touchdowns in his Tennessee debut against Bowling Green, setting a school record for most rushing yards in a debut game. Kamara rushed for nearly 1,300 yards on 210 attempts with 16 touchdowns in addition to 683 yards through the air on 74 receptions and seven touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a score. Kamara became the second Volunteer in history with a rushing touchdown and punt return for a touchdown in the same game and finished third in the SEC in touchdowns for the 2016 season. Kamara decided to forgo his redshirt senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft.

Alvin Kamara was selected in the Third Round by the New Orleans Saints with the 67th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since entering the league, Kamara has been dominant. His shiftiness and elusiveness make him dynamic both as a rusher and as a receiver out of the backfield. In his rookie season with the Saints in 2017, Kamara rushed for 728 yards and eight scores while adding 81 receptions for 826 yards and five receiving touchdowns. Kamara was named to the 2017 PFWA All-Rookie Team, NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and a Second-Team All-Pro. He helped lead his team to back-to-back NFC South Championships and playoff births. In only two seasons, and splitting time with Pro Bowler Mark Ingram, Kamara has logged 1,611 rushing yards on 314 attempts for 22 touchdowns in addition to 162 receptions for 1,535 yards and nine scores through the air. He also has recorded 555 return yards and two kick returns for touchdowns. Kamara is the first player in NFL history to have 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in his first 20 games.

With teammate Mark Ingram Jr. suspended for the first four games of the regular season, Kamara started the 2018 season as the Saints' main running back. He tied the franchise record for most touchdowns in a single season. Overall, he finished his second professional season with 883 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns to go along with 81 receptions for 709 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

In the 2019 season, Kamara finished with 797 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns to go along with 81 receptions for 533 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. In his 2020 season On December 25, 2020, Kamara rushed for 155 yards in a 52–33 victory over the Minnesota Vikings and tied Hall of Famer Ernie Nevers' 91-year old NFL record of six rushing touchdowns in a single game. For his Week 16 performance, Kamara was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Overall, he finished the 2020 regular season with 187 carries for 932 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns to go along with 83 receptions for 756 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. His 16 rushing touchdowns tied him with Dalvin Cook for second-most in the league, trailing only Derrick Henry's 17.

In Week 5, against the 2022 Seattle Seahawks, Kamara had 103 rushing yards and 91 receiving yards in the 39–32 victory. In Weeks 6–7, Kamara recorded over 100 scrimmage yards in both games against the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals. In Week 8, against the Las Vegas Raiders, he had 158 scrimmage yards and three total touchdowns in the 24–0 victory. In three of the last four games of the season, Kamara totaled over 100 scrimmage yards. Overall, Kamara finished the 2022 season with 223 carries for 897 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns to go along with 57 receptions for 490 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in 15 games.
