Tyrese Maxey was born on November 4, 2000, in Dallas, Texas. He is a guard in the NBA.

Maxey played high school basketball for South Garland High School in Garland, Texas. In Maxey's collegiate debut for Kentucky, he scored 26 points in a 69–62 win over first-ranked Michigan State. He had a career-high 27 points in a 78–70 overtime win over rival Louisville on December 28. At the conclusion of the regular season, Maxey was named to the Second Team All-SEC and the All-Freshman Team. Maxey averaged 14 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Following the season, Maxey declared for the 2020 NBA draft. Maxey was selected with 21st overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2020 NBA draft.
