BIOGRAPHY
Maurice Harkless was born on May 5th, 1993 in New York City, New York. He is a small forward for the in the NBA.
He attended Forest Hills High School in Queens, before transferring to South Kent School in Connecticut prior to his senior season. He earned all-metro honors from both the New York Daily News and New York Post in 2008–09 and 2009–10, in addition to being named the New York Daily News's Queens High School Player of the Year in 2009–10 after averaging 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. At South Kent in 2010–11, he averaged 27.2 points, 13.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 3.1 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. He was named MVP at the 2011 Kobe Bryant Classic in Philadelphia.
Harkless played and started all 32 games during his freshman season at St. John's University in 2011–12. In March 2012, Harkless declared for the NBA draft, forgoing his final three years of college eligibility. Harkless is the son of Rosa Harkless. He has one sister, Shakima Harkless, and a brother, Tyler Rodgers. His maternal grandfather is from Puerto Rico. He was raised by grandmother Barbara Harkless.
In the 2012 NBA draft, Harkless was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers. On August 10th, he was traded to the Orlando Magic as part of a four-team, 12-player deal. He had at least one steal in 50 games, and two-or-more steals 22 times, including a career-high six steals on March 15th, against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
On July 14th, 2015, Harkless was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. On April 5th, 2016, he recorded a season-high 20 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in a 115–107 win over the Sacramento Kings. On July 27th, Harkless signed a four-year, $40 million contract. In a game against the Indiana Pacers, he scored a season-high-tying 23 points.
On July 6th, 2019, Harkless was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a four-team trade.
