Cody Zeller was born on October 5, 1992, in Washington, Indiana. He is a center/forward in the NBA.

Cody Zeller is nearly impossible to ignore both on and off the basketball court—not only because of his seven-foot frame—but also because of his natural wit and contagious sense of humor, which has captivated fans across the country. Zeller is a crucial component of the Charlotte Hornets’ starting rotation led by his toughness and team first attitude. He is also a leader for the organization as he has played his entire 7-year career in Charlotte.

Prior to heading to Charlotte, Zeller had a notable basketball career within his home state of Indiana. During his freshman year at Indiana, he led the Hoosiers to a 27-9 record including a historic victory over top ranked Kentucky on a buzzer beating 3 pointer by Christian Watford. After his freshman year, Zeller had the opportunity to enter the NBA draft, but decided instead to return to Bloomington for his sophomore year. In 2013, the Indiana Hoosiers dominated the college basketball landscape spending 10 weeks ranked #1 in the country and all but 2 weeks in the top 5. After a nail biting victory against Michigan on the last day of the regular season, Zeller and the Hoosiers were crowned the outright Big Ten Champions for the first time since 1993. Three months later, Zeller was selected fourth overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2013 NBA Draft. Eventually, Zeller was able to return to campus to complete his degree in management through the Kelley School of Business.

His incredible basketball IQ paired with his natural fluidity on the court was noticed from a young age as he made national headlines as a basketball standout at Washington High School in Indiana. He not only led his team to three Indiana State Championships, but he was also named Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2011, the state’s highest honor for high school players. Zeller was also named a McDonald’s All-American before committing to play for the Indiana Hoosiers.

The foundation of Zeller’s character, family values, faith, and love for basketball all started during his childhood in small town southern Indiana. He grew up with loving parents that taught him the importance of education, respecting others, and working hard. He continues to look up to both of his older brothers, Luke and Tyler, who each had notable NBA careers as well. Throughout his life, Cody has been blessed with basketball coaches and life coaches who have poured into his life. He credits his childhood and upbringing for the success that he has had on and off the court as an adult. By establishing Like A Child Foundation, Cody hopes to give the same opportunity to the next generation of kids as they each begin to lay the groundwork for who they will become in the future as an adult.
