Anthony Kay was born on March 21, 1995, in Stony Brook, New York. He is a pitcher in MLB.

Kay attended Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, New York, where he completed his junior year with finished junior season with a 0.00 ERA. He was the recipient of the 2012 Paul Gibson award, given to the best pitcher in Long Island, and was drafted in the 29th round by the New York Mets.

Kay chose to attend the University of Connecticut instead of signing with the Mets. In 2014, his first year on campus Kay had a 3.49 earned run average (ERA) and 56 strikeouts. As a sophomore and junior he earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference, and in 2016 was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. Finishing out his career at UCONN, Kay set a new program record with 263 career punch-outs and became just the sixth Husky to win 20 career games. 

The New York Mets selected Kay in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft, thirty-first overall, and underwent Tommy John surgery on October 4, 2016, putting him out for the entire 2017 season. He returned in 2018, and got promoted rapidly and earned a place in the All-Star Futures Game in 2019. July 28, 2019, the Mets traded Kay to the Blue Jays for Marcus Stroman.
