BIOGRAPHY
Zachariah Winston Kerr was born on August 29th, 1990, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is a nose tackle in the NFL.
During high school, Kerr was one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the country at Quince Orchard High School for head coach Dave Mencarini. He saw constant double teams as a senior and the 11th-ranked player in the state of Maryland according to Rivals.com. Kerr ranked No. 31 nationally among defensive tackles by Scouts, Inc. and was also rated No. 55 nationally by Rivals.com and No. 81 by Scout.com.
During his freshman season in 2009, Kerr saw action in 12 games as a backup defensive tackle. He played a handful of snaps in each game but provided depth in lineup and recorded two tackles, including solo stops vs. Rutgers and Wake Forest. In 2012 during his sophomore season, Kerr was Key backup at defensive tackle for Maryland. He led the team to a 9-4 record and a 51-20 win over East Carolina in the Military Bowl for head coach Ralph Friedgen. He recorded 21 tackles including six solo stops and was also used a goal-line fullback on offense. Kerr recorded season-high four tackles vs. West Virginia and added three stops each vs. Navy and Florida International.
During his senior season in 2012, Kerr earned second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors and made starting spot early in pre-season drills and started all 11 games at right tackle. He led a defensive front that ranked No. 2 in the CAA in rushing defense (134.2 yards per game). Kerr ranked No. 2 among UD down lineman with 27 tackles, including 15 solo stops and also had 4.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and two fumble recoveries •
Kerr signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2014. He played in all four preseason games that year, recording 14 tackles and one sack. Kerr made his regular-season debut in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, recording one tackle. During his rookie season in 2014, Kerr played 12 games with 16 tackles, one pass defended, and three sacks. In 2015, he played 12 games with 29 tackles. In 2016, he played 12 games with 19 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
On March 11, 2017, Kerr signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos. In 11 games of 2017, Kerr finished the year with 19 tackles, half a sack, and one pass defended.
In 2018, Kerr played in all 16 games, recording 33 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks.
On March 16, 2019, Kerr signed a two-year contract extension with the Broncos.
