BIOGRAPHY
Ted Karras was born on March 15, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois. He is a center in the NFL.
Karras comes from a long line of football players in his family. His father, Ted Karras Jr., was a defensive tackle at Northwestern and played briefly with the Washington redskins. He earned a Super Bowl in the 1987 NFL Lockout. His Grandfather, Ted Karras, played defensive tackle at Indiana and five of his nine seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. He helped the bears win the 1963 World Championship. Karras' great uncle Paul Karras played in Iowa, his other great-uncle Lou Karras played at Purdue and three seasons with the Washington Redskins and his uncle Tony Karras played at Northwestern. Karras attended Illinois University and made 43 career starts along the offensive line. In 2015, he was made the team captain and also won the team's Illini Warrior Effort Award.
In the 2016 NFL Draft, Karras was drafted by the New England Patriots. He made the 53-man roster and was the starting right guard in the season opener against the Cardinals. He played on special teams in all three postseasons, including Super Bowl LI. In 2017, he appeared in all 16 regular-season games with two starts at center. In 2018, he contributed on specials teams and replaced an injured Shaq Mason in the victory vs. Green Bay and Tennessee. Karras appeared on special teams in the FC Championship and Super Bowl LIII victories. In 2019, he has started as the center through the first four victories of the season.
On March 18, 2022, Karras signed a three-year, $18 million contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.
