BIOGRAPHY
Sidney Jones IV was born on May 21, 1996, in Diamond Bar, California. He is a cornerback in the NFL.
During high school, Sidney Earned Hacienda League Defensive Player of the Year as a senior he also earned first-team All-CIF Southern Section Southeast Division at defensive back, Sidney played as a wide receiver, running back, cornerback, free safety and also returned kicks and punts for the Bulldogs, he helped lead West Covina into the CIF Southern Section Southeast Division playoffs as a senior, he was rated the nation's No. 73 cornerback recruit by ESPN and the No. 84 corner in the country by scout.com.
Sidney played for the university of Washington from 2014 to 2016. He played in 13 games, starting 12 at cornerback, as a true freshman, he was co-winner of the UW's Travis Spring Most Outstanding Freshman award and made college debut in the win over Eastern Washington, Sidney had three tackles and forced a fumble vs. the Eagles ... has started from game three of the season on, he started in the win over lllinois, making three tackles, Sydney had seven tackles and recovered a fumble in a start vs. Georgia State, one tackle in a start vs. Stanford, he notched a game-high 12 tackles (all solo) in the win at Colorado. He was Named to the CoSIDA District VIII Academic All-America first team, he finished the season as the Pac-12 leader in pass break-ups, with 14 and six tackles, a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown and three other pass break-ups in the Apple Cup win over Washington State, earning the team's Apple Cup Play of the Game award (for the interception return). Sydney Started all 14 games of the 2016 season at cornerback, started the season-opening win over Rutgers, notching three tackles and a pass break-up.
On May 11, 2017, the Eagles signed Jones to a four-year contract.
On September 8, 2020, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Jones to their practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on September 14, 2020. In Week 5 against the Houston Texans, Jones recorded his first interception as a Jaguar off a pass thrown by Deshaun Watson during the 30–14 loss. He was placed on injured reserve on December 26, 2020.
Jones signed a contract extension with the Jaguars on March 16, 2021.
On August 31, 2021, the Seattle Seahawks traded a 2022 6th-round pick for Jones.
