BIOGRAPHY
Samiuela Tevi was born on November 15th, 1994, in Euless, Texas. He is an offensive tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers of the NFL.
During high school, he was the 2012 Star-Telegram Super Team second-team defense, first-team all-district in 2011 and 2012. Other awards as a senior included Oldcoachrivals.com 5A second-team all-state, Whataburger All-North Texas Team and Tarrant County Terrific 25. He recorded 56 tackles, 3.0 sacks, and 8.0 TFL in 2012. He helped Trinity High to the area championship, and won four letters in football, three in track and two in basketball. He also played volleyball.
For the 2013 season, he played in 11 games on special teams and saw time on the defense in six games, recording nine tackles with two TFL and one sack, making five tackles against Weber State included two TFL and a sack, and two tackles against Utah State and Arizona. He lettered as a true freshman.
At the 2014 season, he played in all 13 games on special teams and saw action on the offensive line in three games (Idaho State, Fresno State, Colorado). Tevi played 42 snaps in the regular season (stats were not kept for the Las Vegas Bowl), including 21 against Fresno State and 20 against Idaho State.
Following the 2015 season, Sam started all 13 games at left tackle, playing 615 snaps in 11 games (stats were not kept for the Colorado and BYU games), had eight cuts and played a season-high 80 snaps with a career-best three cuts at Arizona, two cuts vs. Michigan and one cut against Arizona State, Oregon State and Washington.
During 2016, he played and started in 11 games at right tackle (missed SJSU and ASU games with injuries) and played 706 snaps (stats were not kept for the Foster Farms Bowl) and had four cuts included two cuts against Colorado.
Tevi was drafted by the Chargers in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. It was inactive for the first two contests of the 2017 season and appeared in 14 others, including his first career start at LT. For the 2018 season, he started 14 games at RT and one at LT after playing in relief of T Joe Barksdale in the season opener due to injury. Tevi was part of a line that protected QB Philip Rivers to pass Hall of Fame QB Fran Tarkenton for the sixth-most career TD passes in NFL history and Hall of Fame QB John Elway for the eighth-most passing yards in league annals
