BIOGRAPHY
Saivion Smith was born on November 5, 1997, in Tampa, Florida. He is a cornerback with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League. He played college football at Alabama.
He attended Lakewood High School before to IMG Academy for his final two years where he played for Chris Weinke and Kevin Wright. He recorded 67 tackles, four fumble recoveries, and five interceptions as a junior in 2014. He finished his senior season with 43 tackles, a pass breakup, one blocked punt, and three blocked field goals. He was named to the USA Today All-USA High School All-America Team as a senior and played in the Under Armour All-American Game.
He was a consensus five-star prospect coming out of IMG Academy who originally signed with LSU in the 2016 recruiting class. He spent the 2017 season at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; he arrived at Alabama in January and have two years of eligibility remaining. He is an elite shutdown corner who possesses a blend of instincts and ball skills to go along with great size and speed; he rated the No. 2 player in the 247Sports junior college rankings and the top defensive back. He also second in the ESPN JC50 and the top-rated defensive back. He played 12 games for MGCCC in 2017, excelling on the defensive side of the football and special teams as a returner and finished with 31 tackles at cornerback with a tackle for loss and two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He knocked down six passes and forced a fumble and returned 26 kickoffs for an average of 27.6 yards per return with one touchdown.
In 2018 he was a Junior college transfer who was a five-star prospect coming out of high school and came to Tuscaloosa with SEC experience. He played in all 15 games with 12 starts; he recorded 60 tackles, including half a stop for loss (-1 yard) while breaking up five passes and forcing a fumble and finished tied for 13th in the SEC and paced UA with three interceptions.
He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
