BIOGRAPHY
Randy Gregory was born on November 23, 1992, in Fishers, Indiana. He is a linebacker in the NFL.
He studied at the University of Nebraska and is a defensive end in the National Football League. In his early years, Gregory attended Hamilton Southeastern High School, where he was a two-sport star in football and basketball. In football, he had big numbers as a junior, posting 92 tackles and 17 sacks. Following his senior season, he was ranked as one of the top 15 players in the state of Indiana. In addition to numerous scholarship offers in football, Gregory also attracted Division 1 basketball interest out of high school.
After finishing high school, Gregory attended Arizona Western College where as a freshman in 2011, he had 82 tackles and nine sacks. After his freshman season, Gregory attended the University of Nebraska where in his first year at Nebraska, he started 10-of-13 games, recording 64 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and one interception that he returned for a touchdown. His 10.5 sacks led the Big Ten and he was named a first-team All-Big Ten and was Nebraska's Defensive MVP. He was listed as the preseason number 5 player in college football for 2014 by Sporting News and by the end of the 2014 season, he had 50 tackles and seven sacks.
After graduating from college, Gregory entered the 2015 NFL Draft where he was selected in the second round by the Dallas Cowboys. He made his professional debut against the New York Giants in the Cowboys season-opener and in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gregory posted his first professional tackle, making one solo and one assisted tackle in the game. He finished the season with 16 quarterback pressures, finishing fourth on the team, and had one tackle-for-loss. In the 2016 season, Gregory made his season debut in week 16 against the Detroit Lions where he made two tackles and one quarterback hurry and he also started the last game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles, recording his first career sack, one tackle for loss, a quarterback hurry and was second on the team with seven tackles. In the 2018 season, Gregory was named the backup right defensive end and he started in the season finale against the New York Giants when Crawford sat out to rest for the playoffs. He played in 14 games, recording 25 combined tackles, six sacks, finishing second on the team, and two forced fumbles. The Cowboys had a 6-0 win record in games where Gregory registered a sack. On April 2, 2019, the Cowboys extended Gregory's contract through the 2020 season.
In March 2022, he signed a five-year deal with the Denver Broncos.
Gregory was traded to the San Francisco 49ers during the 2023 season.
