BIOGRAPHY
Nick Vigil was born on August 20, 1993, in Plain City, Utah. He is a linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL.
Vigil played college football at Utah State. In 2013 as a redshirt freshman, Vigil Played in all 14 games, including four starts. He Led the team with 5.5 sacks and ranked fifth overall with 8.5 tackles for loss. Vigil had three quarterback hurries, one pass breakup and his first career interception against Colorado State. He was also named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Wyoming. He also earned academic all-Mountain West honors.
As a Sophmore in 2014 Vigil started all 13 games at linebacker. He earned first-team all-Mountain West honors for the second straight year. Vigil ranked first in the conference and sixth in the nation in tackles with 144, tied. He Was also named second-team all-MW by Phil Steele as he led the team with 144 tackles. Vigil Saw his first career action on offense at No. 18 BYU and led the team with 57 rushing yards on 16 carries. He scored his first career touchdown on a 1-yard run. He Finished the season ranking tied for third on the team.
In his junior year (2015) Vigil Started all 13 games he played in at linebacker and one game at running back. He finished the season ranking first on the team in forced fumbles and tied for first in quarterback hurries, second in tackles and tackles for loss, and third in sacks while adding two pass breakups and one interception. He was named second-team all-MW by Phil Steele as he led the team with 144 tackles and was second with both 13.5 tackles for loss and four quarterback hurries while tying for fourth on the team with 3.0 sacks and tying for first with two forced fumbles. Vigil Recorded a career-high 20 tackles against Air Force, which ranked tied for the fourth-most at the Football Bowl Subdivision level during the year,
Cincinnati selected Nick Vigil in the third round of 2016 NFL Draft. He signed with Bengals on 5-10-16.
In 2016 He played in 1-16 games, Logged 14 tackles on defense and seven on special teams, and was Third on team in special teams snaps. In 2017, vigil played in 11 games with 11 starts. He finished fourth on the team with 77 tackles, including one sack and four TFLs and Had season-high 11 tackles on Oct. 1 at Cleveland, including one sack of Browns QB DeShone Kizer. In 2018 vigil Played in 11 games, with ten starts at LB. He finished third on the defense with 84 tackles and recorded three games with 10 or more tackles.
After becoming a free agent again following the 2020 season, Vigil signed a one-year contract worth up to $2.25 million with the Minnesota Vikings on April 6, 2021.
