BIOGRAPHY
Nate Herbig was born on October 7, 1994, in Lihue, Hawai. He is a guard in the NFL.
In his early years, Herbig attended Saint Louis High School where he was the nation's 12th-best center by Scout, 38th-best offensive guard by Rivals and was Hawaii's second-best recruit by PrepStar, fourth by Rivals, fifth by ESPN and Scout, 10th by 247Sports. He was a 2015 all-state first team 2015 all-conference first team, a 2015 Maximum Exposure Camp Offensive Line MVP and a 2015 Harry Kahuanui Memorial Award. He also led the team to a pair of conference titles. After he finished high school, Herbig committed to the University of Stanford where as a freshman in 2016, he played 13 games, starting six as a left guard and was the first true freshman to start on the offensive line since 2012, second since 2000. He led Stanford to 365 rushing yards vs. Oregon State, eighth-most in school history, led Stanford to 282 rushing yards averaging 6.7 yards per carry at Oregon, led Stanford to 357 rushing yards at Cal, ninth-most in school history and led Stanford to 373 rushing yards vs. Rice, sixth-most in school history. As a sophomore in 2017, Herbig was an All-Pac-12 first-team and a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention. He played 13 games, led Stanford to 656 total yards vs. Rice, seventh-most in school history and led Stanford to 405 rushing yards vs. UCLA, fourth-most in school history.
In his senior year in 2018, Herbig was an All-Pac-12 second team, was a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention, was on the Outland Trophy watch list and was on the AP preseason All-America first team. He was also on the Athletic preseason All-America first team, on the Athlon preseason All-America second team, on the Sporting News preseason All-America second team and on the SI.com preseason All-America first team. He played in seven games and started seven, started six games at right guard and one at right tackle and protected K.J. Costello who finished with second-most passing yards in a season in school history. After he graduated from college, Herbig entered the 2019 NFL Draft where he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2019.
Herbig signed witht the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023.
