BIOGRAPHY
Nasir Allan Adderley was born on May 31st, 1997, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a safety in the National Football League.
Adderley was a two-year starter at free safety and strong safety during a standout career at Great Valley High School, he also started at wide receiver and was a kick returner for head coaches Mike Choi and Dan Ellis. He led team to a 12-2 record and the district title as a senior in 2014, and the team went 8-3 in 2013. Nasir earned honorable mention All-State honors as a senior when he was also named Second-Team All-Southeastern Pennsylvania, first-team All-Area, and first-team all-conference, and also was All-Conference at both receiver and defensive back. For his career, he caught 68 passes for 1,025 yards and five touchdowns, rushed for 383 yards and five touchdowns, intercepted nine passes and returned three for touchdowns, forced three fumbles, and had seven touchdowns on kick returns.
At his first season in college in 2015, Adderley moved into the starting lineup at cornerback and started all 11 games and was one of just two true freshmen (SS Ray Jones was the other) to start every game, leading all defensive backs and ranked third on the team with 51 tackles (37 solo), leading the squad with eight pass breakups. He recorded a career-high with 11 tackles at Towson and added six each vs. Lafayette and New Hampshire, broke up four passes vs. New Hampshire and was named the Blue Hen Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts, and was part of a unit that ranked No. 5 in the CAA and 24th in the NCAA in total defense (329.2) and was No. 3 in scoring defense (20.5/22nd in NCAA).
During the 2016 season, he had a breakout season for the Blue Hens as a sophomore cornerback, he was among the league's top defenders and earned Third-team All-CAA honors and ranked third on the team in tackles with 49 and ranked first among defensive backs. Adderley had two tackles for loss, tied for the team lead with two interceptions, and ranked No. 2 on the team with four pass breakups. He was a Blue Hen Touchdown Club Special Teams Player of the Week three times (Lafayette; Albany; Villanova) and Blue Hen Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Week twice (James Madison, William & Mary)
Following the 2017 season, he played and started all 11 games for the Blue Hens as a junior safety, and ranked second on the team to Troy Reeder in total tackles with 78 and had the most solo tackles on the team (42), having a team-high five games with five or more solo tackles, leading the Blue Hens defense in interceptions (5) which he returned for a total of 135 yards. He ranked sixth on the team in tackles for a loss with four and also led the team with two forced fumbles, one coming vs. Maine and the other coming in the season finale vs. Villanova. Adderley also recovered one fumble vs. William & Mary and was named to the 1st-Team ECACA All-East and 1st-Team All-CAA, the Blue Hen Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Week for his performance vs. Willaim & Mary, the Blue Hen Touchdown Club Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance vs. Maine and was a STATS Inc. National Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention for his performance vs. William & Mary and CAA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance vs. William & Mary.
In 2018 Adderley helped lead Delaware to its first Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearance since making it to the championship game in 2010, posting 86 tackles (48 solo), four INTs, 11 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, returning five kickoffs for 149 yards (29.8 avg.), including a 92-yarder that went for a TD. He set a career-high single-game performance with 13 tackles, two INTs, and four passes defensed.
Adderley was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round with the 60th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. In Week 5 of the 2020 season against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football, Adderley recorded his first career interception off a pass thrown by Drew Brees during the 30–27 overtime loss.
Adderley announced retirement on March 16, 2023.
