Max Scharping

BIOGRAPHY

Max Scharping was born on August 10th, 1996, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He is an offensive lineman in the National Football League.

He attended Green Bay Southwest high school, where he was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-area honoree. He started all but one game over three seasons on the offensive and defensive lines; he garnered all-state honors following his senior season and posted 13 tackles and a fumble recovery on defense. He played college football at Northern Illinois University; as a freshman in 2014, he redshirted. In 2015 he started all 14 games for the Huskies; he was the only NIU freshman that season to do so. He started the season at right tackle, but moved to right guard for a few games and was named FWAA Freshman All-American, the MAC’s only representative on the team. As a sophomore in 2016, he appeared in all 12 games with seven starts at right guard and was named All-MAC selection at right tackle. In 2017 as a junior, he was a First-team All-MAC choice at left tackle and recorded a pass block efficiency of 99.0, according to PFF (pressures per snap) with just four pressures allowed on 459 pass-blocking snaps. As a senior in 2018, he had started all 53 games and every offensive snap (998) in 2018. He earned a scholarship as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and one of 12 finalists for the William Campbell Trophy.

The Houston Texans selected Scharping in the second round (55th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. Scharping signed a one year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2023.
