Matthews Adams was born on December 12, 1995 in Missouri City, Texas. He is a linebacker in the NFL.

Adams attended Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas, where he played football and basketball. He totaled 96 tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles and four interceptions as a senior. He was named the 2013 District 23-5A Defensive Player of the Year. Also named his team’s overall MVP and Defensive MVP as a senior.

Ranked as No. 68 outside linebacker in the country by ESPN.com and as the No. 69 outside linebacker by Scout.com.

Adams played college football for Houston. Adams led the Cougars with 82 tackles in 2016 and finished second with 88 in 2017. In his college career, he posted 259 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.

Adams was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round (221st overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. On April 9, 2022, Adams signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. He suffered a calf injury in Week 5 and was placed on injured reserve on October 11. He was activated on November 16.

Adams signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2023.
