Laremy Tunsil

BIOGRAPHY

Laremy Tunsil was born on August 2nd, 1994, in Harvey, Louisiana. He is an offensive tackle in the NFL. 

At high school, Tunsil was a U.S. Army, USA Today, MaxPreps and SuperPrep All-America selection. A consensus 5-star recruit and No. 1-rated offensive tackle in the nation by all the major recruiting services, rated the nation’s No. 3 overall recruit by 247Sports.com, No. 5 by ESPN.com, No. 7 by Scout.com and MaxPreps and No. 14 by Rivals.com, listed as Florida’s top recruit by 247Sports.com and second-best by Rivals.com, ranked No. 5 on the Orlando Sentinel’s Florida Top 100 and No. 1 on the paper’s North Florida Super 60. He was Florida Dairy Farmers Class 6A Player of the Year, and First-Team Class 6A All-State pick by the Associated Press. He helped Columbia run for 275 yards per game en route to the Class 6A state quarterfinals and was Associated Press All-State First-Team selection as a junior as well.

During college in 2013, Tunsil was named All-SEC Second Team selection (Associated Press) and was one of the first two true freshmen in school history (along with TE Evan Engram) to earn All-SEC honors. He won First team Freshman All-America (Sporting News, College Football News, 247Sports.com, Athlon), All-SEC third team (College Sports Madness), SEC All-Freshman (league coaches) and rated the No. 4 freshman in the country by Athlon. He played in 12 games with nine starts at left tackle and was one of only two true freshman full-time starting LTs in the country (Virginia Tech’s Jonathan McLaughlin). At Texas (9/14/13), he made his first career start at LT and helped pave the way for Jeff Scott’s career-best 164 rushing yards. He helped Ole Miss to 2nd-best passing total in school history (428 yards) in start and was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week vs. Arkansas (11/9/13), vs. Troy (11/16/13): he helped the offense set a school record with 751 total yards in start.

On 2014 he was All-America second team (College Sports Madness, Sports on Earth), third team (Athlon), fourth team (Phil Steele), All-SEC first team (AP, Athlon, College Sports Madness), second team (Coaches, Phil Steele) and won the Kent Hull Trophy as the state of Mississippi’s top college offensive lineman. He was midseason All-America first team (ESPN.com, Sporting News, Sports on Earth, Phil Steele) and midseason All-SEC first team (ESPN.com, Phil Steele). He started at left tackle in all 11 games that he played and missed the Auburn and Presbyterian games due to a partially torn bicep. He was also Preseason All-America second team (Sporting News, USA Today), third team (Athlon), preseason All-SEC first team (League Media, Coaches, Athlon, Lindy’s, USA Today, CFB Matrix, College Sports Madness), second team (Phil Steele, Birmingham News), got named to the Outland Trophy preseason watch list and was rated the nation’s No. 8 tackle by Lindy’s and the SEC’s No. 3 OL and Best Pass Blocker by ESPN.com.

For the 2015 season, Tunsil was named All-America second team (Walter Camp) and All-SEC first team (ESPN.com, Athlon). He played in and started six games at left tackle. He garnered National All-Bowl team recognition from AP, Athlon, CBS Sports, ESPN.com, Rivals.com, SI.com and USA Today and SEC All-Bowl team from ESPN.com, and was also Preseason All-America first team (Sporting News, ESPN, Athlon, Phil Steele, Lindy’s, CBS Sports, The Kickoff, College Sports Madness, CFB Matrix), and Preseason All-SEC first team (League Media, Coaches, ESPN, CBS Sports, Athlon, Lindy’s, Sporting News, Phil Steele, Birmingham News, College Sports Madness, CFB Matrix). He tabbed the nation’s ninth-best player by ESPN.com and 36th by Sporting News. Tunsil participated in the 2016 NFL Combine.

After an outstanding performance in offensive line drills at the NFL Combine, Tunsil further established himself as the No. 1 draft prospect. On April 28th, 2016, the Miami Dolphins selected Tunsil with the 13th overall selection in the 2016 NFL draft. 

On August 31, 2019, Tunsil, Kenny Stills, and a fourth-round pick were traded to the Houston Texans in exchange for two first-round picks, a second-round pick, Johnson Bademosi, and Julien Davenport. He started 14 games at left tackle in 2019, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl. On April 24, 2020, Tunsil signed a three-year, $66 million contract extension with $57.85 million guaranteed with the Texans, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in terms of annual value. In 2023, he was selected to his 4th Pro Bowl.

Tunsil signed a three year contract with the Houston Texans in 2023.
