BIOGRAPHY
Kris Boyd was born on September 12th, 1996, in Gilmer, Texas. He plays cornerback in the National Football League.
In his early years, Boyd attended Gilmer High school where in his senior year, he was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, was a 2nd Team 4A All-State honoree by Texas Sportswriters and was an honorable mention by AP. He helped his team to a 16-0 record, claiming the 4A Division 2 state title during his senior year.
After he finished high school, Boyd committed to the University of Texas where as a freshman in 2015, he played in all 12 games on defense and special teams, registering 16 tackles and one forced fumble. He also tied for the team lead with four special teams tackles. As a sophomore in 2016, Boyd played in 12 games and started the final eight at cornerback. He was sixth on the team with 51 tackles and had an interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and five pass breakups. As a junior in 2017, Boyd played in all 13 games, starting 12 and was named second-team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press in 2017. He finished fifth on the team with 57 total tackles and added two interceptions and 15 pass breakups, the most for a Longhorn since 2011. In his senior year in 2018, Boyd played in all 14 games and started every game except against Oklahoma State. He was fifth on the team with 67 tackles and had 4.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one QB hurry, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a team-high 16 pass breakups. By the end of the season, he was named first-team All-Big 12.
After he finished high school, Boyd entered the 2017 NFL Draft where he was selected in the seventh round by the Minnesota Vikings. Boyd made his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons on September 8, 2019, making two tackles.
