BIOGRAPHY
Jordan Jenkins was born on July 1, 1994, in Houston, Texas. He is an outside linebacker in the NFL.
In his early years, Jenkins attended Harris County High School in Hamilton where he was a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and was rated among the top defensive end recruits in his class. Jenkins participated in the Under Armor All-American game and was considered the #28 overall prospect in the country, and #1 player in Georgia.
After he finished high school, Jenkins committed to the University of Georgia where as a freshman in 2012, he played in 14 games and recorded 31 tackles and five sacks. As a sophomore in 2013, he became a starter and had 45 tackles and five sacks, earning himself a starting role in 2014. In his junior season, he was named UGA Most Improved Player of the Year and a member of the Third Team All-SEC. In his final season at Georgia, he was named a defensive team co-captain at the Bulldogs post-season awards gala and named the team's Defensive MVP.
After he graduated from college, Jenkins entered the 2016 NFL Draft where he was selected in the third round by the New York Jets. Jenkins was named one of the starting outside linebackers to start the season, opposite of Lorenzo Mauldin. On September 25, 2016, Jenkins made his professional regular-season debut and first career start, recording five combined tackles in a 24–3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He finished his rookie season with 41 combined tackles, where 23 of them were solo, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two passes defended in 11 starts and 14 games. In 2017, on November 2, 2017, he earned two solo tackles, sacked Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor twice, and forced the first fumble of his career, as the Jets won 34–21 on Thursday Night Football. He was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Week 9. He finished the 2017 season with 47 combined tackles, where 30 of them were solo, 3 sacks, 2 passes defended and 1 forced fumble in 16 games, while in the 2018 season, he 33 tackles, where 22 of them were solo, 7 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 16 games.
He signed a two-year contract with the Houston Texans in 2021.
