John Franklin-Myers was born on September 26, 1996, in Los Angeles, California. He is a defensive in the NFL.
Franklin-Myers was a three-year starter as a defensive end at Greenville High School. He was an A/B honor roll student. Football wasn't the only sport he lettered in; he also played basketball and track and field. Franklin-Myers had an honorable mention all-district selection in 2012.
In 2014, he appeared in eight games as a true freshman. He recorded a pair of tackles against Texas A&M-Commerce and at Nicholls. He finished his first season with 11 tackles on the year, including six solo tackles and a tackle for loss. In his sophomore year, he received an All-Southland Conference Second Team selection and Southland All-Academic selection. Franklin-Myers recorded 32 tackles on the year, including 17 solo stops. In 2016, he played in all 11 games for the Lumberjacks, with nine starts at defensive end. He Finished the season with 32 tackles, including 20 solo stops, with 14.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks. Four forced fumbles and nine quarterback hurries. In his last year, he played in 11 games with ten starts. He was invited to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Franklin-Myers finished his college career with a three-time All-Southland selection, including garnering first-team honors as a junior in 2016 and three-time Southland All-Academic Team honoree. He completed his lumberjack career fifth on SFA's all-time career tackles for loss list with 37.5 over four seasons. Franklin-Myers was named 2018 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society for maintaining a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout his collegiate career.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Franklin-Myers was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams. He made his NFL debut against the Oakland Raiders. In week 4, against the Minnesota Vikings, he made his first professional sack. Franklin-Myers made it to the Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots. On August 31, 2019, he was waived during the final roster cuts. On September 1, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets.
On October 7, 2021, Franklin-Myers signed a four-year contract extension with the Jets for $55 million, with $30.2 million guaranteed.
