BIOGRAPHY
Jaylon O’Neal Ferguson was born on December 14th, 1995 in Zachary, Louisiana. He is an outside linebacker in the NFL.
He attended West Feliciana high school where he lettered four years in football and basketball. He received all-state honors and was an East all-star his senior year while garnering district and metro MVP honors in addition to his all-metro and all-district honors; he also received all-district honors his junior year.
He played college football at Louisiana Tech; in 2014 he Redshirted as a true freshman and did not see action. In 2015 he played in 12 games, making five starts at defensive end and Totaled 35 tackles (22 solo, 13 assisted) on the year with a team-high 15 tackles for loss. He tied a team-high with six sacks while also recording two forced fumbles.
As a sophomore in 2016, he started all 14 games at defensive end for the Bulldogs and totaled 49 tackles (27 solo, 22 assisted) on the year with a team-high 16 tackles for loss and a school-record 14.5 sacks. He broke the school record from 1986 for sacks in a season with 14.5.
In 2017 as a junior he Saw action in 12 games, making 11 starts and Totaled 39 tackles (25 solo, 14 assisted), a team-high 7.0 sacks for 38 yards and 9.5 tackles for a loss of 45 yards. He ranks 3rd in the nation among active career leaders with 0.69 sacks per game and 5th among active career leaders in FBS with 27.5 sacks in his career. He Led LA Tech with five QB hurries on the season and registered two blocked kicks, which ranked 2nd in the nation and 1st in C-USA.
As a senior in 2018, he started every game for the Bulldogs at defensive end while leading the nation in sacks with a school and C-USA record 17.5 on the season, earning him C-USA Defensive Player of the Year honors and four separate All-America accolades.
He broke the all-time NCAA record for career sacks with 45.0 throughout his Bulldog career, passing Terrell Suggs’ previous record of 44.0 with 2.5 sacks recorded in his final collegiate game in LA Tech’s win over Hawaii in the 2018 SoFi Hawaii Bowl (12/22). He also broke the Louisiana Tech program record with 45.0 career sacks.
He Totaled 64 tackles (37 solo, 27 assisted), a team-high 26.0 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, 9 QB hurries, 4 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery and ranked 1st in the nation in sacks (17.5) and sacks per game (1.35), while ranking 2nd nationally and 1st in C-USA in tackles for loss (26.0).
The Baltimore Ravens drafted Ferguson in the third round (85th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
