BIOGRAPHY
Jalen Thompson was born on July 18, 1998 in Paramount, California. He is a safety in the National Football League.
Thompson football at Downey High School from 2014 to 15 and La Serna High School from 2012 to 2013. Thompson received All-San Gabriel Valley League honorable mention and helped LSHS to a 11-3 record and a CIF Championship as a sophomore in 2013. Thompson garnered All-CIF and All-League accolades after recording 57 tackles and one INT as a junior in 2014 and also caught 22 passes for 450 yards and four touchdowns. He earned All-CIF Southern Section, All-San Gabriel Valley League and Long Beach Press-Telegram All-Area Dream Team honors after intercepting five passes and averaging 20.2 yards per catch as a senior. Thompson totaled 191 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, six INTs, 23 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in 39 games (all starts) in three seasons from 2016 to 2018 at Washington State.
He was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round of the supplemental draft and was the only player selected. He signed a four-year contract with the Cardinals on July 17, 2019. Thompson made his NFL debut on September 8, 2019, against Detroit, playing seven snaps on special teams. Thompson remained the Cardinals starting strong safety in 2021 and led the team with 121 tackles. He also recorded seven passes defensed and three interceptions through 17 games and 12 starts. On September 2, 2022, Thompson signed a three-year, $40 million contract extension including $24.5 million guaranteed with the Cardinals through the 2025 season
