BIOGRAPHY
Isaiah Dwayne Buggs was born on August 24th, 1996, in Ruston, Louisiana. He is a defensive lineman in the National Football League.
He attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where, as a freshman in 2015, he notched 59 tackles, including eight for a loss and four sacks and was first-team All-MACJC South Division selection. In 2016 as a sophomore, he recorded 75 tackles, including 10 for a loss and 3.5 sacks; he was named PrepStar All-Southeast Region selection and first-team All-MACJC South Division selection.He played college football at the University of Alabama; after he transferred as a junior in 2017, he played in 14 games and started 13. He recorded 51 stops with 1.5 sacks (-4 yards), four tackles for loss (-16 yards), and tied for second on the team with seven quarterback pressures; he made 46 of his stops against the run, that was good for fourth on the team in that category. As senior in 2018, he earned second-team All-America honors from the AFCA, named to the All-SEC second team by both the Associated Press and the conference coaches. He was the sack leader of the Tide defense that finished tied for 10th nationally in sacks per game (3.00) with 45 total; he also ranked fourth in the SEC in sacks with 9.5 (-49 yards) and sacks per game at 0.63. He finished the season with 51 tackles, including his team-leading sack total and added six quarterback pressures, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Buggs in the sixth round with the 192nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. On July 22, 2022, Buggs signed with the Detroit Lions.
