Grady Jarrett

BIOGRAPHY

Grady Jarrett was born on April 28, 1993, in Conyers, Georgia. He is a defensive tackle in the National Football League.

He attended Rockdale County high school in Conyers, GA and recorded 101 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a senior. He played college football at Clemson; in 2012 he was selected as an honorable mention sophomore All-American, an honorable mention All-ACC pick and was named the co-defensive player of the year by Clemson’s coaching staff.

In 2013 he posted 83 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and two fumble recoveries. He earned All-ACC honors from the media and coaches as well. In 2014, he was named a permanent co-captain and was named a third-team All-American by Athlon. He was also selected first-team All-ACC. He started all 13 games during his senior year in 2014 and recorded 73 total tackles, ten tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Finished his career starting 37 of the 48 games he played in and tallied 207 total tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. Jarrett was drafted in the fifth round (137th overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2015 NFL Draft; he signed a four-year contract on May 9, 2015.

He played in 15 games, making two starts, and totaled 24 tackles (13 solo) with one sack, four tackles for loss and two quarterback hits as a rookie in 2015. He played in 16 games with 14 starts and totaled 47 tackles (20 solo) while adding three sacks, four tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery in 2016. Jarrett tied an NFL record with three sacks in Super Bowl LI against New England. Since sacks became an official statistic in 1982, three other players have posted three in the Super Bowl - Darnell Dockett, Kony Ealy, and Reggie White.

In 2017 he started all 16 games, tallying 56 tackles (35 solo), 15 tackles for loss, four sacks, and 13 quarterback hits and logged two tackles and two quarterback hits in two postseason games. He finished the regular season tied with Rams DT Aaron Donalds for the league lead in tackles for loss by a defensive tackle.

In 2018 he started 14 games, totaling 52 tackles (27 solo), 6.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, eight tackles for loss and 16 quarterback hits.

Entering the 2022 season, Jarrett and the Falcons agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $67 million with another $1.5 million in incentives.
