BIOGRAPHY
DeShon Elliott was born on April 21st, 1997 in Dallas, Texas. He is a defensive back in the National Football League.
He attended Rockwall-Heath high school where Mickey Moss coached him, and he was an all-state and two-time all-district honoree. As a senior he finished second on the team with 81 tackles, which was one shy of the team lead and was also second with three interceptions, including one returned for a TD, while adding two tackles for loss, five passes defended and one forced fumble. He caught 15 passes for 226 yards and three TDs and also returned seven punts with a 10.9-yard average.
He played college football at the University of Texas; in 2015 as a freshman, he played in seven games on defense and special teams. He recorded 13 tackles (11 solo), two INTs, one forced fumble, and one PBU and the two INTs tied for fifth on the UT freshman single-season list.
As a sophomore in 2016 he played in 12 games with one start; he made 30 tackles (24 solo) with three tackles for loss and a sack. He had an interception and four pass breakups and recovered two fumbles.
In 2017 as a junior he was a Jim Thorpe Award finalist, awarded annually to the nation's best defensive back, who played in and started all 12 games this season for UT; he was named a unanimous first-team All-American (AFCA, AP, FWAA, SN, WCFF). He had six interceptions on the season, tied for seventh-most in school history and the most since 2009 (Earl Thomas - 8; Blake Gideon - 6) and his 127 return yards are the fourth-most in school history for a single season.
He declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season. The Baltimore Ravens drafted Elliott in the sixth round, 190th overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft.
On April 14, 2022, the Detroit Lions signed Elliott to a one-year contract and 2023, Elliot signed with the Miami Dolphins.
