Deion Jones

BIOGRAPHY

Deion Jones was born on November 4, 1994, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a linebacker in the NFL.

During high school, he was a three-year starter at middle linebacker. As a senior, he had 179 tackles, eight sacks, and three interceptions. Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Jones was ranked as the No. 31 outside linebacker prospect in the class of 2012.

During his freshman season in 2012, Jones Saw action in 13 games with no starts. He made an impact on kickoff coverage and finished the year with 23 tackles, most of which came on special teams. Jones had 3.0 tackles for 12 yards in losses and recovered a fumble. In 2013 as a sophomore, Jones played in all 13 games with no starts and continued to make his mark as a hard-hitting player on kickoff coverage. Jones tallied 15 tackles and recorded one tackle for a loss against Texas A&M.

During his junior season in 2014, Jones played all 13 games and started at Will linebacker. In 2015 during his senior season, Jones played in all 12 games with 11 starts and was named one of five finalists for the Butkus Award, which is given annually to the top linebacker in college football. He led Tigers with 100 tackles and first on the team with 13.5 tackles for loss. Jones closed the regular season with double-digit tackles against Ole Miss (14) and Texas A&M (11).

On December 8, 2015, it was announced that Jones had accepted his invitation to play in the 2016 Senior Bowl. Jones played in the Reese's Senior Bowl and recorded six combined tackles as part of Jacksonville Jaguars'. The Atlanta Falcons selected Jones in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. On May 5, 2016, the Atlanta Falcons signed Jones to a four-year contract.

On July 17, 2019, Jones signed a four-year contract extension with the Falcons.

On October 10, 2022, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
