BIOGRAPHY
Christopher Herndon IV was born on February 23, 1996, in Norcross, Georgia. He is a tight end in the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Miami.
He attended Norcross High School; he was a three-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals. He ranked No. 18 tight end nationwide by Rivals and was rated 17th-best tight end by ESPN. He earned Third-team All-County receiver by Gwinnett Daily Post and Hauled in 33 catches for 543 yards with six TDs as a senior. He played for Coach Keith Maloof at Norcross and Led Norcross to Georgia Class 6A State Championship in 2013.
He played college football for the Hurricanes at the University of Miami; in 2014 he Saw action in three games, did not record. In 2015 he emerged as an offensive threat in the second season and Ranked second among tight ends with 18 receptions and 237 yards; he played in all 13 games and started three.
In 2016 he played in all 13 games with 12 starts at tight end; he caught 28 passes totaling 334 yards with two touchdowns. He averaged 11.9 yards per reception with a long reception of 48 yards; also the 28 receptions and 334 receiving yards were fourth-most on the team.
In 2017 he started first 11 games; he posted career marks in the final season. He was selected to All-ACC Second Team and Mackey Award semifinalist as nation's top tight end. He ranked second on the team in receptions (40), receiving yards (477) and receiving touchdowns (four).
The New York Jets selected Herndon in the fourth round (107th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. On May 21, 2018, the New York Jets signed Herndon to a four-year contract. He made his professional regular-season debut in the New York 'Jets' season-opening; he finished first among all rookie tight ends in receptions and touchdowns and second in receiving yards.
In 2021, he was traded from the New York Jets to the Minnesota Vikings.
