Chris Board

BIOGRAPHY

Chris Board was born on July 23rd, 1995, in Orlando, Florida. He plays linebacker in the National Football League.

In his early years, Board attended Timber Creek High School where he was a second-team all-state safety and was selected to all-metro and all-district first team after leading Wolves to 10-3 record and second round of the playoffs. He finished his senior year with 109 tackles including 97 solos and picked off four passes and had eight passes defended. 

After he finished high school, Board committed to the University of North Dakota where as a freshman in 2014, he played in all 16 games and led all Bison special teamers with 12 tackles including nine on kickoff coverage. He finished the year with 22 tackles including one tackle for loss against Incarnate Word, had a season-high five tackles with three solo stops and one pass breakup at Missouri State, and was named to the MVFC Honor Roll. As a sophomore in 2015, Board played in all 15 games including four starts at strong safety and moved into a backup role at outside linebacker in November. He was a standout tackler on special teams and made 11 tackles on kickoff coverage and four on the punt team. He totaled 31 tackles and two pass breakups for the season, had a career-high 11 tackles including seven solo stops in the home loss to South Dakota and was the MVFC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and MVFC Honor Roll. As a junior in 2016, Board played in 13 of 14 games including a pair of starts in the playoffs against San Diego and South Dakota State. He made 17 total tackles and is the NDSU's co-leading tackler on special teams with nine, all on kickoff duty. He also had a season-high five stops in the second-round win over San Diego. In his senior season in 2017, Board played in 13 of 15 games including 11 starts. He finished fourth on the team with 54 tackles including 4.0 tackles for loss and nine of his 10 special teams tackles came on the kickoff team. In four NCAA playoff games, tied for the team lead with 23 tackles including 13 solo stops. He had an impactful performance in the national championship victory over James Madison with two of his four tackles going for lost yardage plus a third-down pass breakup that led to a missed field goal and had a season-high nine tackles in the NCAA quarterfinal win over Wofford, including six solo stops. He also made seven tackles in the regular-season finale at Illinois State to help NDSU clinch the Missouri Valley Football Conference title outright and was named to the MVFC Honor Roll. 

After he graduated from college, Board entered the 2018 NFL Draft where he was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on June 1st, 2018. He made the Ravens 53-man roster, playing in all 16 games.

Board signed a two year contract with the New England Patriots in 2023.
