BIOGRAPHY
Adam Oneal Butler was born on April 12th, 1994, in Duncanville, Texas. He is a defensive tackle in the NFL.
He attended Duncanville high school; where he was a two-time captain. He Started at LT as junior and senior after playing DE as a sophomore. He was a Two-time first-team 5A All-District recipient and was named All-Area as a senior, earning team MVP honors; he helped the squad to district titles and 5A playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011. He also earned letters as a thrower in track & field and was an honors student who received All-District Academic recognition.
He played college football for Vanderbilt University; during his 1st season in 2012, he did not play. In 2013 as a sophomore he Made 13 appearances during the season, earning five starts; he finished the season with 25 total tackles, including 16 solo stops and six tackles for loss; also added a forced fumble and fumble recovery, along with two defensed passes and a QB hurry.
In 2014 Butler developed into one of the Commodores' top defensive linemen as a redshirt sophomore; he played in all 12 games, earning nine starts at defensive end. He established new single-season career highs with 35 total tackles, 2.5 quarterback sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss and three defensed passes.
In 2015 Butler continued to play an essential role in the Commodore interior defense for the third straight year. He played in 11 games, earning starts at defensive tackle in first eight games and finished the season with 12 solo tackles among 18 total tackles. He set new single-season high with three quarterback sacks and matched another with seven tackles for loss.
In 2016 as a fifth-year senior started all 13 games on the defensive front, contributing at both tackle and end. Butler concluded the season with 31 total tackles, 18 solo stops, 7.5 tackles for loss and a team-high four quarterback sacks. In the Camping World Independence Bowl, Butler matched career highs with seven total tackles and three solo tackles.
Butler signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on May 5th, 2017; He was active for the Patriots' regular-season home opener, seeing 21 snaps and recording a tackle in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in all 16 regular-season games with six starts and totaled 19 tackles and two sacks and Appeared as a reserve in all three postseason contests and posted three tackles and two sacks.
In 2018 he played in all 16 regular-season games as a reserve and posted 17 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and two passes defended. He contributed in a reserve role on the defensive line in the Super Bowl LIII victory vs. the Los Angeles Rams.
Butler joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023.
