Tyler Christopher Herro was born January 20, 2000, in Greenfield, Wisconsin. He is a shooting guard in the NBA.

Herro attended Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wisconsin. During his senior year there, he averaged 32.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, as well as 3.3 steals a game; he also shot better than 50 percent from the floor and 43.5 percent from the three-point line. Throughout his entire high school career, Herro tallied in excess of two thousand points. 

Herro initially committed verbally, to the University of Wisconsin on September 12 of 2016. A year later he changed his decision and chose to attend the University of Kentucky. On February 27, 2019, Herro scored a collegiate career-high 29 points in a 70–66 victory over Arkansas.

On April 12, 2019, he declared for the 2019 NBA draft, hiring an agent and forgoing his final three years of college eligibility. He was listed as a mid-first-round selection in most mock drafts. On June 20, 2019, Herro was selected by the Miami Heat with the 13th pick overall in the 2019 NBA draft. Herro was named the best shooter in the 2019 draft class by his fellow rookies.

He was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2022.
