Robert Williams III

BIOGRAPHY

Robert Lee Williams III was born on October 17th, 1997 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a power forward in the NBA.

Williams began his career playing prep basketball at North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana. In his junior season, Willams averaged 21.0 points and 13.4 rebounds per contest and helped guide North Caddo to a 29-4 record. As a senior, Williams would earn the back-to-back Louisiana Sports Writers Association 2A First-Team All-State selection, earning Most Outstanding Player of the Year honors.

Williams would commit to Texas A&M to play his collegiate basketball. In his freshman season, Williams was able to earn SEC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-SEC accolades. He averaged 11.9 points and 8.2 rebounds for the season while shooting 55.8% from the field. In his sophomore year, Williams earned Co-SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors. He averaged 10.4 points per game and an SEC-leading 9.2 rebounds and collected 78 blocked shots, the second most in a single season in school history. Williams would forgo his eligibility and enter into the 2018 NBA Draft.

In the first round with the 27th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics selected Williams. Williams made his professional debut on October 23, 2018. Throughout November and December, Williams split his time between the G League and the NBA, before starting to gain more game time with the Celtics.
