The Brogdon Family Foundation
The Brogdon Family Foundation exists to positively impact the lives of children, families, and communities globally through strategic investments in clean water infrastructure, education, and advocacy for the civil and human rights of all.
NBA and WNBA players make up the Hoops4Humanity team and are committed to bringing clean water to people in need. These professional athletes work together to make a difference in the lives of thousands of individuals in Tanzania and Kenya. Hoops4Humanity always starts with providing access to clean water, and then supports other initiatives that create an Empowered School. Once water is in place, Hoops4Humanity works to optimize and equip the schools. For some schools the focus is on literacy, mentoring, and school infrastructure. Other schools may need housing for teachers or girls or electricity and/or technology. Other schools may need the basic dignity and health needs that comes from being able to wash your hands, use the lavatory, or menstrual hygiene. In addition to meeting these basic needs, at some schools we will build basketball courts to support physical education and team sports!
Supports educational achievement by focusing on literacy, mentoring, and providing high impact educational experiences for children at partnering schools in the United States. We collaborate with school leaders to create Empowered Schools where children are afforded the educational experiences that allow them to achieve and excel. Currently, the JHA Education Project is partnering with Indianapolis Public Schools, but the reach of the project will expand to other cities in the U.S. and overseas, making investments to support increased access to education, through programs that support literacy, mentoring, high impact experiences, and infrastructure.
