BIOGRAPHY
Brandon Clarke was born on September 19th, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a power forward in the NBA.
Clarke's parents are Whitney Triplett and Steve Clarke. They moved to the United States when Clarke was three and settled in Phoenix, Arizona. Clarke attended Desert Vista High School and was named All-Arizona Division 1 honoree by the Arizona Republic after leading the school to the championship game.
Clarke went on to San Jose State and played for the Spartans. In his freshman year, he was named the Mountain West Six-Man of the by the league's head coaches. In his sophomore year, he was the All-Mountain West First Team and Mountain West All-Defensive Team. After the season, he transferred to Gonzaga University.
At Gonzaga, he was named the West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and the All-WCC First Team. Clarke was the first player in WCC history to win both awards in the same season. Sporting News named him the All-American Third Team. In March 2019, he recorded a career-high 36 points alongside eight rebounds, 5 blocks, and 3 assists in an 83-71 win. Clarke became the third player in NCAA Tournament history to record a game of 53+ points alongside 5 blocks and which joins him to Shaquille O'Neal and David Robinson.
In the 2019 NBA draft, Clarke was selected with the 21st overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies. Clarke signed to a multi-year contract. He joined the Grizzlies for the 2019 NBA Summer League and was the MVP. He had 15 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks in the championship game to lead Memphis to the league championship and earned game MVP. Clarke became the first player in the Summer League history to win both honors. In October 2019, Clarke made his debut in the NBA.
