Yohan Ramírez

BIOGRAPHY

Yohan Ramirez was born on May 6, 1995, in Villa Mella, Dominican Republic. He is a pitcher in the MLB.

Ramírez signed with the Houston Astros as an international free agent on June 15, 2016 for a $15,000 signing bonus. He split the 2016 season between the DSL Astros and the GCL Astros, going a combined 2–1 with a 2.37 ERA over 30 1⁄3 innings. He split the 2017 season between the Quad Cities River Bandits, Buies Creek Astros, and Corpus Christi Hooks, going a combined 4–5 with a 4.66 ERA over 75 1⁄3 innings.

On December 12, 2019, Ramírez was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 2019 Rule 5 draft. Ramírez made his major league debut on July 24, 2020 against the Houston Astros, pitching one scoreless inning. He finished the season with a 2.61 ERA along with 26 strikeouts and 20 walks in 20 2⁄3 innings.

Ramírez was optioned to the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians to begin the 2023 season. Ramírez was recalled by the Pirates on April 16, making his 2023 debut on April 19 against the Colorado Rockies where he pitched 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 earned run, walking 2 and striking out 2 in a 14–3 blowout win. Ramírez made his second appearance on April 22 against the Cincinnati Reds pitching two shutout innings by striking out 4 Batters in a close 2–1 win earning his first Hold of the season.
