BIOGRAPHY
Ranger Suárez was born on August 26th, 1995, in Carora, Venezuela. He is a pitcher in the MLB.
Suárez signed with the Phillies as an international free agent in April 2012. He made his minor league debut that year with the DSL Phillies, pitching five scoreless innings over three games.
He returned to the team in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Suárez pitched for the Rookie GCL Phillies, and he was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July, and Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week on July 26.
Suárez spent 2016 with the Class A Short-Season Williamsport Crosscutters, he was named a July 31 New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week and Phillies Pitcher of the Week, and a mid-season New York-Penn League All-Star.
The 2017 season found Suárez pitching for both the Class A Lakewood BlueClaws and the Class A-Advanced Clearwater Threshers, he was named a July 2 South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week, and an August 6 Florida State League Pitcher of the Week. He was also named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April. The Phillies added Suárez to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season.
He began 2018 with the Double-A Reading Fighting Phils, before advancing to the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs. He was named an April 22 and June 24 Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, and Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week three times.
Suárez received his big league call-up and made his MLB debut on July 26, 2018, against the Cincinnati Reds.
He pitched in 39 games for the Phillies in 2021, starting 12 and finishing 13, and posting an 8–5 record with a 1.36 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 106 innings. He held opposing left-handed batter to a .109 batting average and .129 slugging percentage, the lowest of all major league pitchers.
Suárez served as the third starter during the 2022 Phillies season and was a key factor in the team winning the National League pennant.
